A CMS is the platform on which your website is built. It allows you to manage your website yourself, by making changes to text and images for example. A CMS does not allow you to change the design or layout of your website.

Tier 1 websites do not have a CMS, they are pure HTML websites which means we must perform any content edits for you.
Tier 2 websites use our own easy to use CMS which allows you to change most text and images on your website yourself.
Tier 3 and 4 websites use an advanced website framework called Drupal, which as well as allowing you to easily manage your own website, also provides the capability for special and bespoke functionality.

Content changes to Tier 1 websites are charged at an hourly rate of £55, with a minimum charge of one hour. Typically, you could request several changes to text and images as part of a single one-hour charge.

This is an ideal option if you don't want to manage your website content yourself and just want to email us the updates every now and again.

If you want us to carry out more frequent changes you can purchase a monthly retainer plan at a 20% discount on our normal hourly rate or we can include changes as part of a custom maintenance and support plan.

Although Tier 2, 3 and 4 websites allow you to manage your content yourself, we can still perform content changes for you for the above one-off fee, if you would prefer us to handle it. Many of our clients use this option as they don't have a dedicated resource to update their website content.

All websites, including Tier 1 and 2, can include any kind of pages made up of text and images, embedded videos, embedded Google maps, social media icons, basic image/photo galleries and a basic contact form. Typically this would cover most simple or basic websites.

Special functionality is anything else that you need your website to do or include, for example custom forms, custom fields, multi-language features, event calendars, file uploads, newsletters, search function, live chat, booking system etc.

Special functionality is normally provided by installing and configuring Drupal module extentions that provide the additional functionality.

Bespoke functionality is required when you either need some completely new functionality where no Drupal module extention already exists, or when we need to change how an existing module works in some way to suit your needs.

We provide bespoke functionality by developing custom Drupal modules.

Tier 1 & 2 websites don't require essential maintenance and support because they don’t have anything complex going on behind the scenes, there is very little that can go wrong with these types of websites due to the simplicity of the technology involved. They don’t have any security risks when updates are not applied and are essentially very low-maintenance, meaning that it’s perfectly reasonable to just review them once a year for example to check if anything is out of date and causing an issue with modern browsers etc.

Tier 3 & 4 websites on the other hand are built on top of a complex and advanced website framework. It is important that these types of websites are kept up to date for security reasons and to ensure that the ever-evolving structure and content does not cause bugs, errors, incompatibilities or performance issues.

Our essential maintenance and support service ensures that Tier 3 & 4 websites continue to operate smoothly and you have access to continuous support when you have any questions or need help running your website.

Please note that web hosting as a stand-alone service (without essential maintenance & support) is not offered for Tier 3 or 4 websites as an unmaintained website would introduce risk of security threats on our infrastructure.

Our Essential Maintenance and Support service includes:

  • Fast and reliable web hosting service.
  • Proactive security patching of the core system and additional modules to help prevent your website getting hacked.
  • Updates to your website to ensure compatibility with new versions of web browsers.
  • Updates to ensure compatibility with changes to any 3rd party integrations or APIs.
  • Performance checks and tuning to ensure your website continues to operate smoothly as more content and data is added.
  • Fixes for any problem that may occur in the day to day running of your website.
  • Unlimited helpdesk support to answer any question you may have about managing your website.
  • Up to 4 minor changes of text or images on your website per year.

The Essential Maintenance and Support service does not include changes to the design or functionality of your website. If you require ongoing continuous changes after your website is launched you can purchase a monthly retainer plan at a 20% discount on our normal hourly rate or we can include changes as part of a custom maintenance and support plan.

We provide one year of free web hosting with all websites we develop and we recommend using our hosting service so that we can ensure everything works properly for you.

However, if you want to host a Tier 1 or 2 website elsewhere you can, or you can host with us for the first year free of charge and then move to another web host. You will have full access to everything you need to do so.

We do not recommend hosting a Tier 3 or 4 website elsewhere due to the knowledge required to properly host and maintain these types of websites, however if you have an essential business requirement to do this then we can facilitate moving your website to your own choice of web host if necessary.

Any maintenance and support services for a website that is not hosted with us will require a separate quote.

Because Tier 3 and 4 websites are built on the Drupal framework, they can be extended and changed in future to add any new functionality, there is no limit to what your website can become. Your website can evolve into something more complex without having to start again.

Tier 1 and 2 websites have a limit to what can be added to them before we must start again by switching to a more advanced framework. If you plan to have your website evolve over time then it's important to start with at least a Tier 3 website.

If you let us know what you want your website to do today, and potentially in the future, we can advise on this.

No, every website we develop is of the highest level of quality and professionalism when it comes to design. A lower tier does not mean a lower quality or less impressive design.

All of our websites, from Tier 1 to 4, are far more visually impressive and compelling than DIY website builders, off-the-shelf website providers, and even most bespoke web design agencies. This makes our Tier 1 and 2 websites excellent value for money if you have a lower budget and basic requirements.

This will depend on how complicated your requirements are. A general indiciation is:

Tier 1 and 2 websites we may be able to complete within one or two weeks. Tier 3 websites may take four weeks or more. Tier 4 websites can take twelve or more weeks, but will be largely dependent on what bespoke functionality is required.

A 40% deposit payment is required before any work begins, with the remaining 60% balance required when the project is fully completed, but prior to any website or web application being launched on your live domain.

Payment can be made by credit/debit card, direct debit or bank transfer.

Payment for essential maintenance, support and web hosting is paid either monthly or annually by either credit/debit card or direct debit. The first year is always free.
